There's just something so lovable about craft beer. The sincerity, the small scale, the intense flavor, the certain unpredictability, and most of all, the community that drinks and brews it. Ever met an unfriendly microbrewer? Me neither.
In the summer of 2013, my life turned around. My three and a half year relationship crumbled, I was left without a place to live, and I didn't have a job. I decided to pick up and head home for a while to get back on my feet. I decided...I needed a hobby.
And that is how Small Town, Big Palate was born. I made the decision to get serious(ly fun) about beer -- specifically, craft beer. I knew the basics: the lingo, the styles, the glassware, some breweries, but I wanted to know so much more. I purchased my first beer book (Tasting Beer by Randy Mosher), started doing online research, and began to reach out into the world of beer.
